Families for Russian and Ukrainian Adoption (FRUA) is a national organization aiding those who have adopted or may adopt from countries of the former Soviet Union. National FRUA circulates a quarterly newsletter and offers an excellent website with message boards, connections to all chapters and access to up to date medical, research and conference information. The New England chapter is a support group that holds cultural, social and educational events for families, circulates a chapter newsletter and maintains orphanage relief charitable programs. Membership is $35 per family per year and includes access to all the resources of national FRUA. FRUA New England was started in 1995 and is one of the oldest chapters. There are over 100 member families, mostly in the greater Boston area, with other concentrations of families in Western Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire and Rhode Island. FRUA New England families have adopted children from Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, Georgia and Kazakhstan. You can find more about FRUA at the national FRUA website
or by filling out the Contact Us form on this site. We will be happy to send
you a membership packet including newsletters, Eastern European cultural announcements and adoption-related information.
